A scandalous case happened recently in the General Hospital of Peja, Kosovo.
Kosovar media report that the carelessness of the staff of the Department of Gynecology has caused a dead baby to be put into the washing machine. The baby was pulled out of the washing machine in pieces.
Despite the insistence of the hospital staff that this terrible case be kept hidden, the family members notified the police.
How the whole case happened, the baby's father tells IndeksOnline. He tearfully tells how the gross negligence of the hospital has shocked his family.
The baby's father says that his suspicions arose as soon as he saw that the hospital refused to release the baby's dead body. Everything after this moment deepened the tragedy.
The father has never stopped trying to find out the truth about his dead baby. But, the truth he received was beyond what he had ever imagined. He saw with his own eyes the remains of the dead body of his baby, after it was taken out of the hospital washing machine between the sheets.

The case has also been confirmed by the Kosovo Police, which has said that investigations are being carried out by the State Prosecutor and the Health Inspectorate.
"From the complainant, the Police was informed about a case which happened in the Regional Hospital in Peja. The police immediately came to the scene, the State Prosecutor, too. Health inspectors also came to the scene. The case, by order of the State Prosecutor, is being investigated by the State Prosecutor and the health inspectors," says the Police's response to IndeksOnline.
IndeksOnline sources inside the Peja Hospital say that the Hospital is trying at all costs to hide the case, putting pressure on the staff so that no information gets out of the Hospital. They are even trying to put all the blame on the shoulders of the cleaning staff, in order to clear the name of the Gynecology medical staff.
IndeksOnline first contacted the director of the General Hospital of Peja, Mr. Fazli Shala, who has been unavailable. Meanwhile, neither the Peja Basic Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Health, nor the Health Inspectorate have answered the questions.
On the other hand, only the acting director of Administration and Shared Services, Selman Kelmendi, has been declared by the Hospital.
He says that there are people suspended regarding this case, which is still being investigated by the Inspectorate, the Police and the Prosecutor's Office.
