One of the world's richest men, Bill Gates, has warned that "our grandchildren will grow up in a dramatically worse world" if climate change "is not fixed". He also highlighted what he thinks will be the hardest thing for humanity to do, writes CNBC.
He wrote about what the world will be like as a result of climate change on his blog after finding out he was going to be a grandfather.
"Recently, I began to look at the world from a new perspective when my eldest daughter gave me the incredible news that I will become a grandfather next year. Just writing about becoming a grandfather next year excites me. This thought gives a new dimension to my actions. "When I think about the world my grandchildren will be born into, I am more inspired than ever to help everyone's children and grandchildren have the opportunity to survive and thrive," said Gates, 67, who is one of the founders of the Microsoft company.
Among other things, Gates emphasized that what kind of world future generations will live in will depend on the response of world leaders to climate change.
"The solution to climate change can be summed up in two sentences: We must eliminate global greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Extreme weather is already causing more suffering, and if we don't get to zero emissions, our grandchildren will grow up to be dramatically worse world", he emphasized.
According to him, getting to zero measurements will be the hardest thing humans have ever done.
