The resignation as prime minister of Great Britain has saddened Boris Johnson. He even plans to fight in the next election among the conservatives. The outgoing Prime Minister has expressed this wish to his close friends.
Lord Peter Cruddas, who is leading a campaign to give Tory members the right to vote to keep BoJo in No.10, said the Prime Minister told him at Checkers he did not want to leave.
"Boris said he could understand the anger at what had happened. He wanted to continue as prime minister. He said he doesn't want to resign," Lord Cruddas told The Daily Telegraph.
Asked by his friend if he would "withdraw" his resignation immediately with "a magic wand", Bojo is alleged to have said: "I would withdraw everything that stops me from being prime minister in a second."
Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for Downing Street clarified that "the prime minister has resigned as party leader and has decided his intention to surrender".
But Lord Crudas insisted, adding: “He wants to go ahead and finish the job. He wants to fight the next general election as leader of the Conservative Party."
"He also said that if there was a general election tomorrow and he was leader of the Conservative Party, he would win the general election and I agreed with him," Cruddas added.
