A 44-year-old worker died yesterday in Italy due to the heat while working on the road signage of an ecological site in Lodi.

The 44-year-old was painting road signs when he fell to the ground. The 40-degree temperature caused him to collapse on the asphalt and suffer a heart attack. The worker was rushed to the hospital, but he died even though attempts to revive him continued for a long time.

Doctors said the cause of death, a heart attack, was related to the African heat wave that has been affecting Italy for several days.

The national secretary of the Italian left, Nicola Fratoianni, said that immediate measures should be taken to prevent such cases from recurring due to the heat.
