Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has said that Tehran is ready to confront a possible ground invasion by the United States. In an interview with NBC News, Araqchi stressed that any such attempt would bring a “great catastrophe” to the US.
He added that Iran has no intention of negotiating a ceasefire and that previous attempts at dialogue with the US have ended in attacks during negotiations. “I see no reason to negotiate,” Araqchi said.
Meanwhile, the Iranian minister clarified that Iran currently has no plans to block the Strait of Hormuz, but did not rule out the possibility of such action, depending on developments in the war.
In a post on X, Arakchi directly addressed former US President Donald Trump, writing: “Plan A for a quick and clean military victory has failed, Mr. President. Your Plan B will be an even bigger failure.”
He added that the opportunity for a unique agreement has been lost, due to US policy that, according to him, has hindered the progress achieved during the negotiations. “'Israel first' always means 'America last,'” Arakçi wrote in his post.
