US President Donald Trump attacked Spain, calling it an "enemy of NATO", while again expressing his disappointment with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
In an interview with the New York Post, Trump said that while some countries actively support the alliance, Spain's stance is disappointing.
"We have a lot of winners, but Spain is a sure loser, and the UK has been very disappointing," Trump said, adding that Madrid is very hostile to NATO.
He also accused Spain of not meeting its defense spending obligations within the Alliance and of not acting as a reliable ally. “It is not a team player, and we will not play on a team with Spain,” the president added.
In the same interview, Trump expressed his disappointment with Keir Starmer for not allowing the US to use British military bases during the American and Israeli operation against Iran.
“It was very disappointing — his behavior regarding our major attack on an enemy country,” Trump said. “He should have given us without question or hesitation the basics we could use.”
However, Trump added that the relationship with Starmer is good, but stressed that he "in some cases doesn't do the things he should do."
