
A 39-year-old woman is the perpetrator of a knife attack that injured 12 people today at Hamburg Central Station, Germany.
The incident took place on platform 13/14, where train service was suspended. Blood stains on the ground bear witness to the horrific crime. According to NDR, the incident occurred at around 6:05 pm in front of a train waiting to depart.
Initially, there were reports of eight people injured. News agencies reported that six people were in critical condition. However, Philipp Baumann, a spokesman for the Hamburg Fire Department, told BILD that three people were in critical condition, three were seriously injured and six others were slightly injured.
A Federal Police spokesman also confirmed in the evening that the suspect is a 39-year-old woman who is believed to have acted alone. The motives for the serious attack are not yet known.
