US President Donald Trump has decided to fire his national security adviser, Mike Waltz, and the names of candidates who could replace him have already appeared in the American media.

According to Politico, Trump's former special envoy for the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Richard Grenell, is one of the candidates.

In addition to Grenell, the candidate for Waltz's position is Steve Witkoff, who was initially appointed by Trump as special envoy for the Middle East, and then for resolving the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

Witkoff is known for his pro-Russian views, as well as the idea of ending the war by fulfilling all the conditions set by Russian President Vladimir Putin for Ukraine and the United States.

Among the other candidates, Trump's deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller, known for his rather radical right-wing views that he often expresses on social media, and Sebastian Gorka, a national security expert, stand out.

Waltz was fired over a group chat on the Signal app where he accidentally added The Atlantic journalist Jeffrey Goldberg.
