President Donald Trump's national security adviser, Mike Waltz, and his deputy will resign from their posts.

This development comes shortly after they were involved in the scandal called "Signalgate", where, along with other senior American officials, they discussed plans for military attacks on Houthi rebels in Yemen, on the "Signal" app.

His deputy, Alex Wong, will also leave his post, US media reported. The White House said it would not comment on the anonymous sources.

Waltz took responsibility for a group chat in which senior officials planned military strikes in Yemen in the presence of a journalist who was inadvertently added by him.

He is the first significant member of the administration to leave during Trump's second term.
