Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was hospitalized after arriving in Bali, Indonesia to attend the Group of 20 (G20) summit, the Associated Press reported, citing Indonesian officials.

The AP agency, citing two sources from local authorities, reported a possible heart problem. Lavrov is representing Russian President Vladimir Putin at the summit.

Indonesian officials declined to comment on the incident. Immediately after the news became known by the international media, Russia calls the reports about the hospitalization of Sergey Lavrov in Indonesia false.

Reuters published a statement from the representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, who described the information about his transfer to the hospital as fake news and that he is in his hotel.

Specifically, the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated that "we read the news and do not believe our eyes".
