Eight people have died and 81 others have been injured after an explosion occurred in an Istanbul shopping center on Sunday afternoon. The Minister of the Interior of Turkey announced that in connection with the serious case, the authorities have arrested 22 people. One of the arrested is believed to be the person who planted the bomb in the mall.
"Our assessment is that the order for the deadly attack came from Ayn al-Arab in northern Syria, where the PKK/YPG has its Syrian headquarters," Suleyman Soylu said.
The militant Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, is a militant Kurdish separatist organization.
Fifty of the injured have been released from hospitals, but five remain in the intensive care unit and two of the injured are in critical condition. The interior minister said that Turkey "will take revenge against those responsible for this terrible terrorist attack".
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Erdogan said that those who were involved in terrorism against Turkey have been defeated in the past and will be defeated in the future. We remind you that Turkey, the USA and the European Union consider the PPK a terrorist organization. The YPG is a Syrian branch.
