Turkish authorities are investigating the cause of the deadly explosion in Taksim Square in Istanbul, while a woman is suspected of being the perpetrator of the attack.

The Turkish site ODA TV reported that a woman about 1.65 meters tall was seen placing a package on the street on "Beyoglu Istiklal" street. The blurred photo of the woman as the suspected author of the attack is already circulating on the Internet.

Even Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in his statement earlier, referred to a woman who is being investigated for her role in the "insidious attack", as he described it. 

“Do të ishte gabim të thuash se ky është padyshim terrorizëm, por indikacionet e para dhe informacioni që na ka përcjellë guvernatori im i parë është se këtu ka një erë terrorizmi. Vlerësimet e para janë se një grua ka luajtur një rol në atë që ka ndodhur. Si shefi i policisë së Stambollit ashtu edhe guvernatori ynë po hetojnë shpërthimin dhe kamerat nga vendi i ngjarjes po analizohen. Më pas do të bëjmë njoftimet përfundimtare”, tha Erdogan.

Deri tani, si pasojë e shpërthimit tragjik janë raportuar 6 viktima dhe 53 të plagosur.
