Europe has turned to the right, confirming all the predictions made for the June 9 elections
The release of "exit polls" from all over Europe has already created a preliminary idea of how the next European Parliament will look like.
The center-right European People's Party has expanded its dominance over the Parliament, while the "Greens" and the centrists of "Renew" have declined.
Both right-wing parliamentary groups, which are the "home" of most far-right parties, have experienced an increase. Germany's far-right AfD has been expelled from the "Identity and Democracy" grouping due to a series of scandals, so for now they are part of the group of independent MPs.
In first place remains the European People's Party, which supports the current president of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. According to these projections, the EPP will have 181 seats in the parliament or 4 more than in the past.
The group of Socialists and Democrats is second with 135 seats or 5 less than in the past.
Liberals of the "Renew" group with 82 seats or 20 seats less. They are followed by the Conservatives and Reformists group with 71 MEPs, the "Identity and Democracy" group with 62 MEPs, the Greens with 53 seats, the leftists with 34 seats.
Everyone is waiting for the exit of Ursula von der Leyen, but the party of the European People's Party in Brussels has already begun.
