On June 23, 2026, Prime Minister Edi Rama was on a visit to France, where he met with President Emmanuel Macron. In those days, Rama even published a photo alongside Macron, holding a piece of paper written "Liceu Francez, Korça".
No other explanation for the reason for this photo, no information about who the symbol of that writing was or other data. After that photo, many were those who guessed whether France would sponsor the construction of the French Lyceum in Korça, would throw money at the buildings, etc.
While others thought that perhaps France would turn its eyes on Albania, as it has always viewed our integration with skepticism, to the point of "forcing" several governments to make agreements with French companies in exchange for a "yes" vote.

Of course, the Renaissance of the French Lyceum in Korça is a good thing for the community, since it was one of the first schools to create elites in Albania. “Today, the Renaissance of the French Lyceum of Korça is also on the table of the President of France, as one of the projects under his care, after the historic visit to Tirana,” our Prime Minister would write.
Empty propaganda or will France invest in Albania?! Vox News has crossed out some information about the French Lyceum in Korça, which Macron would take care of. Contrary to what was trumpeted in that photo, which left a lot of room for interpretation, the investments in the French Lyceum in Korça have been made, are being made and will be made solely by the Albanian government, which has also settled the several million euro bag.
Contrary to what that photo implied, quite the opposite is happening on the ground, as a few days after that meeting, the Albanian Development Fund finalized a tender for the construction of the French Lyceum in Korça, entirely with Albanian and not French money. On July 7, 2026, the ADF announced the companies “NDERTIMI” and “NDREGJONI” as the winners of this procedure, with the object of “establishing the Educational Infrastructure of the Franco-Albanian Lyceum of Sciences and Innovation, Municipality of Korça”. It is a contract for the construction of the dormitory and the new school.

The documents state that the winning BOE offered an amount of 435 million lek, thus being declared the winner, while there is no information in the accompanying documents that the Lyceum will be built with funds from France.
Like many other photographs or collaborations, in this case too, Albanian taxes are financing the whims of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who, just to please Macron, writes that the Liceu will have his support.
If the French government doesn't finance that project, how will Macron oversee it? With Albanian taxes? Normally, the construction of a school is always welcomed by anyone, but when it's done for propaganda, it seems to be a bit of a waste.
