Construction firms and architects have recently found a scheme to get permits for towers in Albania. Their latest invention is to put the names of international artists on construction projects, thereby speeding up procedures in the government, more specifically at the National Council for Territory and Water.

A project for a 14-story tower has recently been unveiled by KKTU, very close to the center of Tirana, on “Ali Pashë Gucia” street. The construction firm has submitted a project to the government under the name “Vasarely Tower”, using in this case the name of the Hungarian artist Viktor Vasarely, who is known for his optical art and use of geometric shapes.

In artist circles, he is known as the "friend" of our prime minister, for abstract art, the same as Edi Rama, while in this case the firms and the firms themselves that are doing the project have found the "solution" to not drag on. In fact, even the 14-story tower project is in the form of the Hungarian's art, an abstract form.

According to documents researched by Vox News, KKTU has in recent weeks issued the construction permit for the "Vasarely Tower" facility, a residential and service building with 1, 13 and 14 floors above ground, with 2 floors underground, located in the Municipality of Tirana, with the developer being the company "Christin" sh.pk.

“The 14-story building is located in the city of Tirana, on 'Ali Pash Gucia' street, occupying a strategic position near main roads and high-intensity public spaces. This area of ??Tirana is rich in history and an important part of the city ,” the letters say. In fact, that area used to be private housing, characteristic of Tirana residents, and the construction of these towers has almost erased any trace of them!

According to documents obtained by Vox News, the area where the tower will be built is characterized by intensive urban development and offers a mix of functions that include housing, services and parking. "We mainly have a combination of low-rise individual residential buildings, 1 to 2 floors, pre-90s collective housing constructions as well as recent constructions with a height of 9 to 12 floors.

"The area has a consolidated road system and direct access to the city's main accesses such as the 'Dibra' road," the documents state. According to it, the area is consolidated by public services with educational facilities such as the "Partizani" Secondary School and the "Kuqe" School.

KKTU writes that the basic concept of the project is inspired by the Hungarian artist Viktor Vasarely, known for his optical art and the use of geometric shapes with strong contrasts. “The main design theme of the Vasarely Tower stems from the use of simple geometric shapes and strong contrasting colors. The Vasarely Museum in Aix-en-Provence interprets the artist’s paintings as a horizontal building, while in this project, the concept is transformed into a vertical tower,” the document continues.

According to her, the tower is based on a plan of 12.5 m by 12.5 m, with a circular loggia that brings natural light into the depths of the apartments. Inside the loggia, all surfaces and window frames are painted in pink RAL 3014, creating a strong contrast with the black and white facade. This visual contrast creates a unique optical effect, faithfully reflecting the inspiration from Vasarely.

The permit states that the project for the 14-story building in Tirana represents a successful union of functionality, aesthetics and artistic concept. “Inspired by the optical art of Viktor Vasarely, the tower brings a new dimension to the city’s contemporary architecture, combining powerful visual elements with comfort and sustainability. This project aims to be an important landmark in the urban landscape, creating a close connection between art and practical function,” the document continues. It is precisely all of the above that may have convinced our artist prime minister to sign off and approve it quickly.
