As the protests of recent months, culminating in the violent ones of October, have consumed a lot of energy from the government majority, Socialist leader Edi Rama is discussing with his associates the meeting of the SP General Assembly.
Sources from the Socialist Party told Top Channel journalist Muhamed Veliu that the Assembly meeting on November 14 is under discussion.
However, confirmation of this date and notification of all members of the SP General Assembly is expected in the coming days.
But what could this possible November 14 assembly produce?
Journalist Muhamed Veliu lists the main issues that are expected to be discussed by Socialist leader Edi Rama.
This will be an assembly where the focus will be on the preparation of the local elections on May 9, including the situation with the protests, which continue, despite the decline in turnout.
In addition to mobilizing to win these elections, Edi Rama is expected to reveal the method of selecting socialist candidates for mayor.
It remains to be seen whether Edi Rama will reveal his ideas from this assembly about what could be the perfect candidacy to win the Municipality of Tirana, the largest in the country.
The Socialists expect from this assembly to hear the public positions of the SP leader regarding Erion Veliaj, who has now publicly set himself on a strong collision course with Edi Rama after his transfer to Fier prison.
Also, it remains to be seen whether Elisa Spiropali's motion, asking Edi Rama to open the Socialist Party and addressing the need for a "New Deal for Albania", will be included in the agenda of this assembly.
Edi Rama used the September 2023 assembly to unveil the change of half of his governing cabinet.
It remains entirely up to Rama whether he will use the November 14 Assembly to make substantial changes to his fourth cabinet, at a time when the government is facing a host of concerns stemming from the protests, which the prime minister says he has taken note of and are addressing. (TCH)
