Tragic explosion with two victims in Elbasan, the building will collapse!

The five-story building in Elbasan, where a powerful explosion suspected to have been caused by a gas cylinder caused two fatalities and several injuries, will be demolished. The building has been declared uninhabitable and poses a safety risk to residents, as the explosion has caused severe structural damage, not only to the destroyed part, but also to the rest of the building.

Journalist Fatos Salliu, in a connection from Elbasan for the show "Rudina", explained that after verification on the ground, the final decision was made that the building can no longer be used for housing.

Residents will not be allowed to freely enter their apartments to remove personal belongings, but this will only be possible under the supervision of specialized teams.

"Yes, it is a final decision that was made today, after the director herself, together with the experts, closely observed, saw the structure of this building and determined that it is uninhabitable. Moreover, for the residents of the other part, that is, one part of the building is totally destroyed, while the other part has suffered severe structural damage. Asked how the other residents will be treated, the director stated that they can only retrieve their personal belongings or valuables, let's say, only through specialized teams, either the fire department or people specialized in such cases ," the journalist reported.

Meanwhile, one of the main concerns remains the settlement of families who have been left without housing. According to the journalist, the local government is expected to intervene to offer them support and temporary housing, while one of the possibilities is to benefit from a rental bonus through decisions of the Municipal Council.

Regarding the future of the building, the journalist announced that, if a decision is made to completely demolish the structure, it is envisaged that a new building will be built in the same location.

"I believe that if this structure is demolished, a new building will be built in the same place. But what the local government will do is to accommodate these residents, that is, it will offer them assistance, housing, either through the social bonus, through decisions of the Municipal Council, to support them to stay in rented accommodation, perhaps during this period, until the construction of the building is completed ," Salliu said.
