Despite the Constitutional Court's suspension of the President's decree for the partial local elections in Tirana on November 9, the Socialist Party has continued the campaign with its candidate, Ogerta Manastirliu.

The former socialist minister, who will leave her mandate as an MP to run for the seat left vacant after the arrest of Erion Veliaj, met with doctors and nurses to discuss the role that the municipality has in improving services to citizens.

"Social Tirana is at the foundation of every work that is done in Tirana. Whether in infrastructure, in construction, the focus will be on the impact it has on children, on the elderly, on families. We will pay attention to meeting the needs of a community that is developing, that is growing, that seeks and trusts in public services, in nurseries, kindergartens, schools that we plan to increase their number."

Manastirliu said that local government could do more to improve social services, by establishing special centers for categories with specific needs.

"The municipality can do more for social services, especially for people with disabilities. We need to open more centers for children with autism spectrum disorders and to support their families. Therefore, we are committed to establishing a structured and solidary network for support, from kindergarten onwards, to integrate them into social life," said Manastirliu.
