The four members of the Kola family, who lost their lives a few days ago in Italy, will be transported to their final resting place the next day in the village of Gryksh i Madh in Peqin, their birthplace.
Family head Arti Kola, his wife Jonida Kola, and two children Hajdar and Jessica, 22 and 15 years old, died on February 4 in their home in Porcari, Italy as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning, released from a gas boiler recently installed in the apartment where they lived.
The bodies have undergone toxicological analysis in Italy and are now ready to be returned to Albania. To send the bodies to their homeland, Arti Kola's brother, Durim Kola, opened a GoFundMe where over 75 thousand euros were collected within 2 days.
The tragedy occurred around dinnertime: the head of the family's brother and the carabinieri, upon entering the house, found the table set. It was the head of the family's brother who raised the alarm, who notified the carabinieri: as soon as they arrived at the three-story apartment, he and the officers knocked several times, without receiving any answer.
At that moment they broke down the door and, as soon as they entered, were faced with a dramatic scene, with four lifeless bodies lying on the ground.
The uncle of the two minor children, also due to carbon monoxide, lost consciousness in front of the carabinieri, who managed to get out of the house before suffering the same fate and raising the alarm. He was taken to the Cisanello hospital.
The apartment where the tragedy occurred is owned by Arti Kola, who, according to some witnesses, had purchased it about 3 years ago, but only recently had the family started living there.
The house was reportedly partially restored by him, a painter by profession, perhaps together with some friends. Meanwhile, his son, only 22 years old, worked as an electrician.
