
Two people have been arrested in the capital, part of a criminal group involved in firearms trafficking, while 6 SigSauer pistols have been seized.
Donati Jaku, 31, and Florian Gjeta, 22, were arrested in the area known as "Rrethi i Fresk" and their accomplice is wanted. The weapons are suspected to have been trafficked from Montenegro to be sold in Fresk.
Gjeta was the driver of the "Volkswagen" vehicle, while Jaku was a passenger. The police have released footage from the pursuit until the moment of the arrest of the two people by officers of Police Station No. 4 and the Operational Forces.
"Tirana/The operation codenamed "Rotondo" is finalized as a result of a two-month investigation."
Another criminal group involved in the trafficking and sale of firearms is targeted.
6 pistols suspected of being trafficked from Montenegro, with the intention of being sold, are seized, mainly in the area called "Fresku".
2 citizens were arrested red-handed for transporting firearms in a vehicle.
An associate of theirs is identified and declared wanted.
As a result of an investigation conducted for 2 months, with proactive methods, in coordination with the Tirana Prosecutor's Office, the services of Police Commissariat No. 4, following the controls and operational work, with the objective of cracking down on criminal activities of trafficking and sale of firearms, finalized the operation codenamed "Rotondo".
During the operation, citizens DJ, 31 years old, resident of Shkodër, and F. Gj., 22 years old, resident of the village of Domje, were arrested.
The vehicle driven by the 22-year-old and in which citizen DJ was a passenger, was stopped for checks, in cooperation with the services of the Special Operational Force of the Tirana Police Department, in a place called "Rrethi i Freskut".
From the vehicle checks, 6 firearms (SigSauer pistols) suspected of being trafficked from Montenegro, with the intention of being sold in this area, were found.
The firearms were seized along with the "Volkswagen" vehicle driven by citizen F. Gj., as well as 4 cell phones.
Following the investigations into this criminal activity, the suspected accomplice of the arrested, citizen ES, was identified and declared wanted.
Work continues to capture the wanted citizen, and under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, investigations are ongoing to bring to criminal responsibility other citizens who may have been involved in this case.
"The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police statement said.
