Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by the head of the State Police, Muhamet Rrumbullaku and the Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, visited the new home of the State Police inspector, Vionis Shehu, on Friday afternoon.
Shehu, has benefited from the loan program guaranteed by the government for the houses of young families of police officers, doctors and soldiers.
Among other things, during the conversation with the owners of the new house, Rama and Balla emphasized that in the 2024 budget, a significant salary increase for state police employees is foreseen. As announced, there will be an increase for general practitioners as well as for teachers.
"The salary increase next year will be significant. From the state budget, the state police, historical growth compared to other institutions."
Meanwhile, focusing on the work done so far with the State Police, the head of the government emphasized that work has been done, but there are still some links to be fixed. He brought as an example the behavior of the officers, which, as he said, still remains to be fixed.
Rama also touched on some of the benefits that State Police employees have.
"We discussed it for a long time before and now we created this system with the dedicated card. The card of every family of a police officer who goes to a supermarket. So the cards go to the women, they go to supermarkets that are connected to the Ministry of the Interior and get food at a discount. For those types of cards it is 10–15% depending on the products. So the director said it is 100 thousand lek per month plus the salary which is food, but as a purchase value it is even more. Yes, the salary increase next year is also significant. This 2024 increase is quite significant for police officers, general practitioners, and teachers. In fact, the average salary in the state will be 900 euros. Don't forget one thing, that comparing salary to salary is different, what goes home is also different. That you can see the salary in the salary, let's say the Albanian police officer and the German one is not a big difference, but the taxes that he has in his salary, the expenses that he has for rent and other stories, and the transport is another story himself", said the Prime Minister.
As for the salaries of police officers, they are expected to increase to 21-35%, from the 7% that increased during 2022-2023.
