The Operational Forces of the General Directorate of Prisons, during an operation in Drenova Prison, found a cell phone in Laert Haxhiu's cell.

The phone was immediately seized, and it is expected to be examined whether there were any contacts through it, while investigations have begun to discover how the banned device was introduced into the prison authorities and whether there was any collaboration with security officials in the prison.

Laert Haxhiu has been sentenced to life imprisonment for what is known as the Lushnja massacre in 2017, in which two people were killed, Zamir Latifi, a friend of Aldo Bare's nephew, and Jurgen Hoxha. Meanwhile, the owner of the bar where the incident occurred and a passerby were accidentally injured.

Haxhiu is being tried in the Special Court for at least 17 criminal incidents, including murder and assassination, TNT explosions and violent robberies. The dismantling of his gang came through the testimony of justice collaborator Artan Tafani.

Laert Haxhiu was extradited on July 3 of last year from Greece, a year after being arrested in the neighboring country.
