Erion Braçe: What happened in Zvërnec was serious, the police tried

Erion Braçe reacted to the protest the day before in Vlora.

He calls what happened serious and unacceptable, accusing the Vlora Police of trying to hide a crime.

He meanwhile demands that all persons involved in this incident be investigated.

Braca's reaction

About the event in Vlora

Even violence, savage even; unacceptable, intolerable!

As such, it is a crime!

1. I appreciate the decision of the General Director of Police to suspend the Director of Police in Vlora;

But it's not enough!

There, a peaceful protester who was simply speaking, in full view of the police, alongside the police, was kidnapped, beaten, and dragged by unauthorized persons unknown to the law!

The Police Director did not make a mistake in the information, but he attempted to hide a criminal fact, even a serious one;

You must take responsibility for this!

2. The police were notified that a rally, protest, etc. would be held on Dajlani beach. When the State Police receives such a notification, they take measures to guarantee the rally, protest, etc. The police director and the troops in the territory have not guaranteed anything!

They have also done worse - they have allowed people to be at the protest site wearing masks, without any identifying marks as a key element to hold them accountable in case of violation of the law; to make matters worse, these people have appeared aggressive, insulting and threatening, violent to the point of exacerbating the situation - see the footage, it's not just one, but several of them.

Their presence and their actions towards the protesters, and the police's inaction towards them, led the conflict to confrontation!

So, the director of the Vlora Police and the troops at the scene not only did not guarantee the rally, but allowed the protest to escalate due to the violence of people with and without masks.

The right to peaceful protest is a right acquired since 1990 in this country, and the police are one of its guarantors.

*As I'm writing, I learn that the person who shot the protester has been arrested; in fact, there were three in the act of kidnapping him, making four with the one who shot him, leaving two to drag him away - but where are they?

Meanwhile, the police chain of command in Vlora has been placed under disciplinary investigation; this is also an appropriate act.

But if this happens to the Police, is this group of black people being investigated? If they are security guards for a company licensed by the state, can they enjoy this privilege? Yesterday we all saw that they did not bring security, but violence!
