Protest in Zvërnec - Security officer who hit citizen arrested, entire

The General Directorate of the State Police has announced that the employee of a private security company, who was seen in the video footage punching citizen ES during a gathering of residents of the village of Zvërnec, on May 30, 2026, in the place called "Portonovë", has been identified, captured and arrested.

The arrested citizen is G. Biba, 32 years old, resident of Durrës, suspected of the criminal offenses of “Unlawful Deprivation of Liberty” and “Intentional Minor Injury”. Investigations show that he, in collaboration with citizens AG and GV (criminally prosecuted), hit the citizen and then forcibly pulled him towards the place reserved for the guards, causing him minor bodily injuries.

In parallel, the General Director of Police has ordered the launch of a disciplinary investigation into the entire chain of command of the Vlora Police Department, regarding the measures and management of the rally. The investigation is being conducted by the Directorate of Professional Standards.

The State Police has emphasized that it is determined to respect the fundamental rights and freedoms of citizens, to guarantee the safety of life and property, and to punish any police officer who neglects or abuses his duty.

On May 30, 2026, residents of the village of Zvërnec held a protest rally in the area known as "Portonovë", against construction projects on the coast.

The protest was accompanied by tensions, with some residents clashing with the construction site's private security guards. Footage shared on social media showed the moment a security guard punched a citizen, sparking immediate public and institutional reaction.
