The Prosecutor's Office of Durrës has closed the investigations and has sent for trial the former head of the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana, Petrit Fusha.
Fusha was taken as a defendant after the end of the "vetting" process, which resulted in numerous violations in the non-declaration, concealment or false declaration of his wealth.
Investigations against Fusha began at the Durrës Prosecutor's Office in 2020, after several reports against him and other subjects were referred for competence to this prosecutor's office by SPAK.
He was investigated for concealing the ownership of the luxury resort "Mai-Tai", on the outskirts of Tirana.
"In view of the investigations of criminal proceedings no. 2733/2019, in charge of the defendant PF, it results that the investigations related to the charge "Refusal to declare, non-declaration, concealment or false declaration, of the assets of elected persons and public servants, or of any person who has a legal obligation, have been completed for declaration", provided by article 257/a, paragraph 2, of the Criminal Code and on 05.12.2023 the case was sent to the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Durrës for review.
The PF citizen was a prosecutor and, based on the law, was subjected to the re-evaluation process.
From the Independent Qualification Commission, the report with the final result of the administrative investigation for the former PF prosecutor was sent to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance for Serious Crimes in Tirana, where it was requested to investigate the facts within the transitional reassessment. This fact has served for the registration of the criminal case against him and then led to his arrest as a defendant", informs the Durrës Prosecutor's Office.
