This is Lorenc Lala a few days after being handcuffed in London for the purpose of extradition to our country.

His arrest in London as a wanted person by Albanian justice is reflected this Sunday in the Sunday Telegraph newspaper.

"The suspect in the murder conspiracy in Albania has lived in Great Britain for four years" is the headline of this newspaper, which tells how Lala paid 50,000 euros for the murder of Albi Bashaliu in 2021.

"The new generation of Albanian criminals involved in organized crime who are wanted by justice in Albania, Italy, Greece and Germany illegally enter England in trucks and use it as a hiding place to avoid arrest warrants," an expert on organized crime issues is quoted in the article.

Chris Philip, the shadow minister of the Conservative opposition, has commented on the arrest of Lorenc Lala, stating that "Great Britain cannot become a haven for hiding such dangerous criminals."

He expressed concern that Lorenc Lala might use human rights law to avoid extradition.

Lorenc Lala's role in the murder of Albi Bashaliu by paying 50,000 euros to Laert Haxhiu was learned after Artan Tafani agreed to become a collaborator of justice by giving testimony before prosecutors in Elbasan, and then at the Special Court in Tirana, GJKKO.

Kreshnik Ajazi, the number one prosecutor in the Elbasan prosecution who investigated Bashali's murder, stated in a statement to the Sunday Telegraph that "we solved this murder and several others after a member of this criminal group agreed to cooperate."

"The arrest of Lorenc Lala and potential extradition to Albania is a great success in the wake of excellent cooperation between our authorities on such criminal matters," he said.

Lorenc Lala was identified by Interpol Tirana as having been hiding in England since the murder of Albi Bashaliu.

Four years after this murder in the village of Gjocaj, Peqin, the London Metropolitan Police handcuffed 47-year-old Lala.

He appeared before the extradition court on June 19 and was remanded in custody until the next court hearing scheduled for June 25./Top channel
