Artur Rrapaj shows the connections of the Albanian mafia with the 'Nueva

Artur Rrapaj, the Albanian arrested during the operation to capture the biggest boss of a drug trafficking network nicknamed 'Gato', has given details about the connection of the group 'Nueva Generación' with the Albanian mafia.

Wilder Emilio Sánchez Farfán, alias 'Gato', was arrested in Pasto, Colombia. But, at the same time, several raids were carried out in Ecuador.

Agents arrived at the properties where 'Gato' was believed to be residing. The main surprise of the operatives was found in a property in Samborondón, in Guayas.

At the scene, the officers informed that they arrested an Albanian. The 37-year-old Albanian was caught with several satellite phones, GPS devices and $319,000 in cash.

Police intelligence had not identified Rrapaj as part of the Nueva Generación structure, the organization led by Sánchez Farfán.

However, his arrest brought to light clues about a relationship that had already been traced. The officers identified that the Albanian mafia operating in Guayas works with the Nueva Generación cartel.

The presence in Ecuador of Rrapaj, an Albanian with a criminal record in Albania and with a passport that expired 10 years ago, is not surprising. On the contrary, it confirms some hypotheses of the investigators.

THE ROLE OF THE ALBANIAN MAFIA

Since the 2000s, the so-called Albanian mafia has sent 'emissaries' to Latin America. Specifically in Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia and Peru. The goal was to buy cheap cocaine, according to an InsightCrime investigation.

A police source told PRIMICIA that the Albanians, based in Ecuador, hide behind the profile of businessmen related to food exports. But they are really responsible for arranging the logistical details of getting the cocaine into Europe. This was precisely one of the strengths of the structure managed by the alias 'Gato'.

In 2022, the United States Treasury Department listed Sanchez as one of the world's top narcotics. The report states that shipments of cocaine under the alias 'Gato' were made from Ecuador. This traffic was done through sea vessels and commercial containers.

CONTACT WITH SINALOA

Shtetet e Bashkuara e lidhën Sanchezin me meksikanin Miguel Ángel Valdez.

The relationship is based on the shipment of cocaine which is then transported to ports on the coast of Ecuador for export. In addition, the Colombian Prosecutor's Office linked Sanchez to the so-called Devesa Clan.

This is a Spanish criminal organization dedicated to the reception and sale of drugs in European ports. In other words, the Nueva Generación cartel, commanded by the alias 'Gato', managed to create a narco-criminal structure with links to: Mexico (Sinaloa and Jalisco Nueva Generación cartels), Colombia (Oliver Sinisterra Front), Europe (Albanian Mafia and Camel Clan).
