Sylvio Mendes Campos Junior will be presented on Monday as the new coach of Albania. The Albanian Football Federation announced in the first days of January that an agreement has been reached with the Brazilian, who succeeds Edoardo Rejan on the Rossoneri bench. The 48-year-old will sign an 18-month contract with the AFL. His only objective is to reach the qualification for the final stage of the European Championship Germany 2024.

Supersport learns that Sylvinho has decided to stay in Tirana as long as he is the coach of the National Team, to be as close as possible to Albanian football and the Albanian Football Federation. He will be maximally engaged all the time, in other words in a "full time" job.

The former left defender requested that the rest of his staff also stay in Tirana, in order to have a continuous cooperation. In such circumstances, Hamdi Salihi, who has been part of the National team staff in the role of one of the deputy coaches, will no longer be part of the red and black team, this is due to the fact that the former Shkodran striker lives in the United States of America. and it is impossible for him to move to live in the capital.

Former Argentinian defender Pablo Javier Zabaleta and former Brazilian midfielder Dorival Guidoni Junior, known as Doriva, have been confirmed as Sylvinho's assistant coaches, but it is understood that an athletic trainer will be added to the Brazilian's staff, requested by him. Albania's first official match in the European Championship qualifiers will be in March in Warsaw against Poland, but the 48-year-old will also have a friendly match before the meeting with the Poles to get to know the team.

Sylvinho is a well-known name in world football, as a player he was part of Barcelona, Manchester City and Arsenal. As a coach, in 2011 he took the position of deputy at Cruzeiro, to then move to Sport Recife, Nautico, Corinthians, and Inter together with Roberto Mancini. He was also Brazil's assistant coach for three years, holding the post of assistant to Tite before taking charge of Lyon in France and then Corinthians in the Brazilian championship.

Now, the former winger wants to take the big step as coach of Albania, as the achievement of the objective will determine the financial figures that will benefit the Brazilian and his assistants for the 18-month adventure. The presentation of Sylvinho and the rest of the staff will be made by the president Armand Duka, on Monday at 11:00 in the premises of the "Air Albania" stadium.
