Severe punishment for Mourinho after the Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe derby
Jose Mourinho

José Mourinho has been suspended for four matches following the Istanbul derby between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe. This is the decision of the Turkish Football Federation following the controversy caused by the Portuguese coach's statements after the match. The Special One received a two-match suspension for racist words directed at the Galatasaray bench, saying that they were "dancing like monkeys", and another two for insulting the fourth official after the match.

This is the latest chapter in a real battle that Mourinho has started against Galatasaray and the Turkish federation. New developments are expected in the coming hours, as Fenerbahçe will appeal and this duel will not end soon.

Galatasaray has accused Mourinho of racism and has warned that it will sue him for his phrase in a press conference: "On the Galatasaray bench they were dancing like monkeys in protest."

The Turkish Football Federation decided to punish the Fenerbahçe coach, who in turn has announced that he will pursue legal avenues to contest these accusations.

Regarding the two-match suspension for insulting the fourth official, Mourinho himself admitted to making comments after the match. In the press conference he stated: “I went to the referees’ room after the match, there was the Turkish fourth official and I told him that if he was the main referee, it would be a disaster. In the meantime, I thanked Vincic for coming to referee this match.”

Didier Drogba, the former Galatasaray striker, has also commented on the issue, defending Jose Mourinho: "I have seen the recent comments about José Mourinho. Believe me when I tell you that I have known José for many years and he is not a racist. History, both past and present, proves this."

Fenerbahçe has come to Mourinho's defense and stated that they will not accept the suspension without a fight.
