Prime Minister Edi Rama, during his speech at the Ambassadors' Conference, criticized Albania's economic diplomacy, describing it as the weakest link in Albanian diplomacy.
"I want to emphasize the necessity to further strengthen our work as a diplomatic service in the region in order to maintain and increase the intensity of communication, not simply with the government, but with all political or institutional and social actors and factors, because as far as the region is concerned, we have the greatest strategic interests and the obligation to be the most determined promoters of peace and stability in this entire neighborhood of Europe. I do not want to make a list of all the commitments that Albania has had and currently has or intends to have at the tables of various international institutions, but I want to emphasize a historic and challenging moment, which is that of organizing the NATO summit in Albania in 2027. So, in fact, less than 2 years from today ," the head of government initially said.
"A key element, which remains the weakest link in our diplomatic work and service, is economic diplomacy. The role of our representations is weak, except for very specific cases related to the will of an ambassador, the contribution is almost non-existent. A conference dedicated to the engagement of our diplomatic representations was held, but the results leave much to be desired, while this aspect should be a priority ," Rama added.
