It seems that Greece 's threats to impose a veto on the process of Albania 's membership in the European Union will no longer have any value.

The spokesperson of the European Union, Peter Stano, has given a clear and decisive answer to Greece , as he declared that the rule of law must be applied in cases like Fredi Beller 's case.

Stano described the threats of official Athens as " attempts to create division " in the relationship between the two countries.

"We do not enter into bilateral disputes as we have confidence in the ability of the actors, especially if the actors are the EU member states and the states that will be part of it, to resolve this issue in order to have mutual benefit, implementing principles and rules. In this case the rule of law applies, the law must be respected and if there are doubts, EU member states and also countries like Albania have the instruments and means to resolve such problems or disputes, so that no create unnecessary rifts in bilateral relations and not raise bilateral issues at the union level, such as in the accession process , "said Stano.

Official Athens has declared that it will become an obstacle in the process of Albania's membership in the European Union , if the elected mayor of Himarë municipality, Fredi Beleri , is not allowed to take the oath.

Fredi Beleri  is in prison after being arrested a few days before the May 14 elections , on charges of vote buying.
