A letter was delivered to the Speaker of the Assembly, Lindita Nikolla , where she is asked to start the parliamentary procedures for the review and approval of the draft law on the vote of the diaspora .

Through a statement to the media, the Diaspora Movement for Free Albania says that it has also received the support of a group of 7 deputies.

"We call on all deputies of the Assembly of Albania to support this draft law brought by representatives of the Diaspora, not to look at the narrow political interests of the moment, but to unite to enable all Albanians everywhere the right to vote and the opportunity of political representation as well as that of influence in the governance of the country as it happens in every democratic country" , the statement says.

The proposing MPs are Fatmir Mediu, Gazment Bardhi, Agron Gjekmarkaj, Agron Duka, Jorida Tabaku, Emilia Koliqi and Dhurata Çupi Tyli .

The Diaspora Movement for Free Albania presented to the public on 08.09.2023 the draft compiled by it with the suggested amendments to the Electoral Code to fulfill the legal gap found by the Constitutional Court for Diaspora Votes.

After a period of discussion with the actors involved in the process, the movement submitted this draft on 10.10.2023 to the Speaker of the Assembly of Albania, Mrs. Nikolla was born and for the knowledge of all political parties by recording it with No. 3060.

Today the Diaspora for Free Albania introduces this draft into the legislative process! With the support of a group of proposing deputies, it proposes to the Assembly of Albania the initiation of parliamentary procedures for the review and approval of this draft law.

Thanking the proposing MPs, we call on all the MPs of the Albanian Parliament to support this draft law brought by representatives of the Diaspora, not to look at the narrow political interests of the moment, but to unite to enable all Albanians wherever they are right of Voting and the possibility of political representation as well as that of influencing the governance of the country as happens in any democratic country.
