The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla , together with the new head of the IKMT, Ervin Hoxha, closely inspected the works for the demolition of several buildings without permission, which pave the way for the continuation of the Great Ring of Tirana, in the Shkoza overpass area.
The Minister stated that IKMT must guarantee the prevention of any form of construction without permission and above all the criminal punishment of offenders.
"We will open a new phase of IKMT. Today we are going to see the continuation of a work, the Great Ring, which is the aorta of the city, and which changes the traffic in the city. The new approach, with the support of the State Police, is about prevention. I too am sorry when it comes to objects that break, but there will be zero tolerance for anyone and anywhere. With the head of the Commissariat, Petrit, a few days ago we intervened in one of the residences, where certain people had built and expanded, are you saying they are greedy. We will continue not to allow any kind of expression of arrogance towards other citizens and towards the law.
There will be care for IKMT employees, with a salary increase for them, and for any kind of dignified treatment of your work. But don't forget that until yesterday there were more criminal complaints against the inspectors than the inspectors had complaints against those who build without permission. Any construction without permission must be reported, because it is a cancer that has been going on for 30 or so years. New technologies, satellite images, drones will be used to control the territory not only with inspectors", said the minister.
"Today we begin the demolition of the first 23 buildings, there are 7 more, 120 in total to be demolished along the Great Ring road throughout December", informed Chief Inspector Hoxha.
Balla said that the environment must be protected and Albania kept clean.
"Each area should have an area of responsibility, and for any construction without a permit, he should be held responsible. We will coordinate between IKMT and PSH and other agencies, to combine information. People should be taught to take leave. We have a role to protect the environment, because IKMT does not destroy only constructions, but to protect the environment, the coast. "From January 1, we will check where hotels, etc., pour their waste water, together with other agencies, along the coast, keeping clean this economic power that you are transferring to Albania," the minister underlined. He further asked for control of the construction companies, so as not to throw the waste anywhere.
