The candidate for the DP primaries for the Municipality of Tirana, Belind Këlliçi, says that he bears no responsibility if Basha has manipulated the elections to be elected party leader (after losing in the 2021 parliamentary elections), even though he was one of the members of Commission of those elections.

During an interview in Euronews Albania, Këlliçi faced the accusations against him that he manipulated the elections as a member of the Commission to elect Basha as the president, as well as the statement of Edi Paloka, who publicly admitted that he manipulated the elections to be elected Basha became president and he no longer had the eyes and face to stand up to the Democrats.

Kelliçi has stated that he is not responsible for Paloka's statement and if there are no facts about it. According to him, he simply did the real-time reporting of the result.

"I was only a member of the Commission and I did not undertake any act and collected the signs. They are throwing mud at me. You tell me that I must be responsible for Mr. Paloka's public statements. I have not discussed this with Mr. Paloka and this statement was given after the elections, this matter belongs to Mr. Paloka. I have reflected the data coming from the branches, which I have put in a table and reported in real time. I bear responsibility if the facts emerge that I have violated a vote, but there have been attempts recently to throw mud at me from various circles. What do I have to do with Paloka saying we manipulated the elections." stated Kelliçi.
