Vox News learns exclusively that the Special Prosecution Against Corruption has sent a request to the Assembly for the arrest of Sali Berisha.
Berisha is part of an investigation into suspicions of corruption during the privatization of the "Partizani" sports complex.
The SPAK has assigned the former prime minister the security measure "obligation to appear" as well as "prohibition of exiting the country", however Sali Berisha has refused to appear in court from the beginning.
His son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, was also arrested for the same issue. He is accused of "passive corruption in cooperation" as well as "money laundering".
Sali Berisha has described the accusations against him as "baseless and politically motivated".
