The Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Tirana, Alastair King-Smith, addressed today a video message to Albanians, where he called on them not to go to Britain illegally, as according to him, there are many other legal alternatives both in England and also in Albania.

The British ambassador says that the two governments are working to ensure that the Albanian community receives due recognition for its contribution and that Albanians here do not think that the only solution is to leave the country.

"For Britain, friendship with Albania is of extraordinary value for the contribution of the Albanian community in Britain, as well as the work of the British who came to Albania. We know very well that at the heart of our relations are the connections between our communities and peoples. As you know from recent media reports, we are facing a common challenge, the increasing number of Albanians who are going to the United Kingdom illegally. Both our governments are working together to show people that there are alternatives, whether these are related to the valid opportunities within Albania or through legal routes to enter the UK.

We are working to ensure that the Albanian community receives the proper appreciation for its contribution and that Albanians here do not think that the only solution is to leave the country", said the British ambassador via video message on Twitter.
