A tourist was attacked by a shark on a Caribbean beach, resulting in the loss of both arms.

The Canadian tourist was enjoying carefree moments in the Turks and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean when she suffered a serious shark attack.

The woman was swimming carelessly in the shallow waters and came within a few meters of the shark, while trying to photograph it.

Eyewitnesses said the woman's family was nearby at the time and that her husband bravely tried to push the shark away from biting her again.

The woman was bitten on the leg by the shark, but will not lose her leg, local media said.
