Estonian adventurer Jaan Roose made history by crossing from Asia to Europe on a tightrope over Istanbul's iconic Martyrs Bridge on July 15. On Sunday evening, Roose walked 1,074 meters on a tightrope suspended 165 meters above the Bosphorus.

Roose, a Red Bull athlete, began his walk on the Asian side of the Bosphorus at 6 p.m., completing the transcontinental journey in just 47 minutes.

"The Bosphorus has thousands of years of historical and cultural significance, as well as outstanding natural beauty," Roose said after his historic achievement, reports hurriyetdailynews.com.

"I made history, so I'm very happy," he declared.

This is the first time that a person has walked the distance from Asia to Europe at such a high altitude, which adds to the importance of the event.

Roose admitted that fear is an integral part of his adventure.

"I am afraid of heights, but this fear is necessary. It helps me improve my technique and stay confident. I have to be afraid of falling in order to ensure my safety. In a way, everything is shaped around that fear. Managing this fear, both mentally and technically, is essential.”
