Albanians are using more internet than minutes to communicate with their relatives and friends. The data from the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority show that in the second quarter, higher internet volumes were registered, also due to the greater use of social networks. Standard SMS also saw growth this quarter.

But how much internet, SMS and outgoing minutes do we consume on average per month?

The average monthly consumption per active user of mobile services during the second quarter was 127 outgoing minutes, 13 SMS and 8.78 GB of Internet. Compared to the first quarter of 2024, average call consumption decreased by 5.4%, SMS consumption increased by 6.3%, while Internet consumption increased by 3.9%.

On the other hand, the number of SMS messages sent by mobile network subscribers in the March-June period was around 100 million, which represents an increase of 8.2% compared to the first months of this year and a decrease of 6.2% compared to the second quarter. of 2023.

The total number of outgoing calls generated by mobile subscribers in Albania was around 970 million minutes, a decrease of 3.7% compared to the previous quarter and a decrease of 13.1% compared to the same period a year ago.

The amount of calls to other national mobile networks (off-net) decreased by 5.2% compared to the first quarter of 2024 and decreased by 13.8% compared to the previous year. The amount of on-net calls decreased by 3.1% calculated with the first months of 2024 and decreased by 12.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.
