The rapid development of artificial intelligence has seen Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison overtake Amazon creator Jeff Bezos as the second richest person in the world.

The net worth of the head of Oracle in real time reached $ 206.1 billion, according to Forbes. Bezos is close at $203.1 billion. Shares of the software giant are up about 63.4% so far this year. Tesla CEO Elon Musk tops the list, with a net worth of $251 billion.

Oracle shares soared after the company reported earnings last week that beat expectations and raised its fiscal 2026 revenue forecast.

Oracle shares are up 20% for September. If the rally stops there, it would be their best month since October 2022, when the stock rose 28%, and the second best month since October 2002.

The success of Oracle stock is largely due to the company's role in the development of artificial intelligence. Ellison, who founded Oracle in 1977, showed how the company is building data centers to accommodate the growing demand for generative artificial intelligence.

"We're building the smallest, most portable and most affordable cloud data centers up to 200 megawatt centers, ideal for training very large language models and keeping them up-to-date," Ellison said.

Oracle said last week it would partner with Amazon's cloud computing unit to enable database services on dedicated hardware. Over the past year, the company has struck similar partnerships with Microsoft and Google, two major cloud infrastructure companies.
