The holiday season is wonderful, but there's a lot that needs to be done in a short amount of time: buying gifts for loved ones, watching your favorite Christmas movies, and of course, baking cookies.
But if you're looking to cut down on the festive decor, TikTok is officially obsessed with a new way to hang Christmas tree lights: vertically.
Wrapping lights around the tree horizontally to create rows can be a 'status quo', old method we've used for years. However, many people on TikTok are convinced that a vertical arrangement of them is the version you need.
"If you're going to believe the classic style of lights that dress the outside of the tree, that means the inside of the tree won't light up, so there won't be any depth of lighting," says architect Amy Pigliacampo. "Vertically placing the lights makes the lighting more visible, reduces the number of lights you have to buy or turn on, and in a way the whole festive environment gets bright," she continues.
The vertical lights may seem a little unsystematic at first, but if you look closely they can remind you of a hotel lobby.
