We are all stressed, but which European nations are more? Well, even if our idea of the Greeks is certainly not that of a particularly stressed people, they are precisely the ones who stand out in the special ranking of the European countries in which stress is perceived the most.
The ranking was drawn up by experts from a Dutch company that sells wellness products, and the top ten sees the Turks in second place and the Portuguese in third, followed by the Maltese, Cypriots, Irish and Spanish. The Italians are eighth, before the French and the Swiss.
To classify stress, data from the Global Burden of Disease (a study of the Lancet medical journal that periodically analyzes the state of health of people in the world, including mental health) and surveys on this topic conducted by Eurostat and Gallup were used.
In particular, stress, prevalence of anxiety and depression, sadness and happiness perceived by individuals and, for ages 15 to 64, weekly hours of work were taken into account.
The survey covered all European countries but excluded Russia and Ukraine, whose data would be outdated and unreliable due to ongoing conflict.
