What a terrible crime! A group of six missing women have fallen victim to a murder in Mexico.
The charred remains of five of the women have been identified, and investigators say they have no doubt the sixth was also murdered.
This was announced by the Attorney General of the central state of Guanajuato, Carlos Zamarripa, on Friday.
Although the North American country kills an average of almost 90 people a day, this case drew particular attention because so many women rarely disappear at once.

According to Zamarripa, the police arrested six suspects, in whom weapons and drugs were found.
Initially, the exact motives and circumstances of the crime are not known. According to local media reports, the victims were hired to work at a party before they disappeared.
The women, aged between 19 and 48, were last seen on March 7 in the town of Celaya.

Her remains were found 30 kilometers away in the municipality of Juventino Rosas. Criminal gangs are active in the region. Experts are still working to identify additional bone fragments, Zamarripa said.
A wave of violence has been rampant in Mexico for years. Last year there were 31,936 murders for a population of 126 million, and that's just the official figure.
Numerous drug cartels and other criminal groups fight for control of areas of influence and smuggling routes.
They often have ties to corrupt politicians and security forces. Most murders are never discovered.
