The Russian President, Vladimir Putin , has put aside his warm coat and in temperatures of " -14 degrees Celsius " has plunged into the icy water to mark the Orthodox holiday of Epiphany.

According to the ritual, Putin immersed himself three times in the name of the Father , the Son and the Holy Spirit .

The Russian president was not the only one who got into the cold water on this occasion, believers of all ages took the plunge to celebrate the landmark day for the Orthodox Church./ The Guardian
