US President Donald Trump is considering firing some of his administration's top officials who have opposed the latest deal with Iran, Israeli media outlet Israel Hayom reports.
According to the report, among the officials who could face political consequences are Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and CIA Director John Ratcliffe, who are said to have expressed reservations about the agreement reached by the Trump administration with Tehran.
A senior American official, quoted by Israeli media, has declared that "the debate is closed" and that those who opposed the deal "may pay a personal price."
The reports come at a time when divisions have emerged within the US administration over the memorandum of understanding reached with Iran. According to sources cited by Axios, CIA Director Ratcliffe, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Hegseth have raised concerns about Iran's willingness to comply with the agreement's obligations.
On the other hand, Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner have come out in support of the agreement, arguing that a diplomatic solution is the best option to avoid escalating the conflict.
The White House has not yet officially confirmed that Trump has made a decision to fire any of his cabinet officials. However, the reports reflect the internal tensions that have accompanied the negotiations with Iran and the agreement announced in recent days by the US president.
