US President Donald Trump has announced the achievement of an agreement with Iran to end the war between the parties, describing it as a major diplomatic success.

However, according to analysis published by Tom Nichols in The Atlantic, the agreement represents more of a strategic victory for Tehran than for Washington.

Trump announced the agreement through his social network Truth Social, publicly wishing for an end to the conflict.

But analysts argue that the US administration has failed to achieve the main objectives it set at the beginning of the war.

According to the analysis, although Iran has suffered significant damage from American and Israeli attacks, the regime in Tehran remains in power and continues to control the military and security structures.

The country also maintains significant missile and drone capabilities, while remaining an influential factor in the region.

Another critical point is related to the fact that many of the sanctions against Iran are expected to be eased, while billions of dollars in frozen assets could be returned to Tehran's disposal.

This, according to critics, will give the Iranian regime more financial resources and room for maneuver in the international arena.

The analysis also notes that Israel has been left out of the negotiations, which were largely brokered by Pakistan. The Israeli government has expressed concerns about the terms of the agreement, particularly the inclusion of Lebanon and the Hezbollah group in the framework of a regional ceasefire.

The Trump administration has presented the deal as a success in curbing Iran's nuclear program.

However, critics recall that Iran had previously made similar commitments in the 2015 nuclear deal and argue that the risk of developing a nuclear weapon was not as imminent as presented by the White House.

Meanwhile, the final details of the agreement, which is expected to be formalized in the coming days, remain unclear.

According to reports, the document could pave the way for further negotiations over the next two months, while US officials insist that any economic relief for Iran will be conditional on compliance with the agreement's obligations.

The analysis concludes that, if the agreement is signed under the terms reported so far, Iran will emerge from the conflict damaged but politically stronger, while the US risks being perceived as the party that failed to achieve the objectives for which it started the war.
