President Donald Trump described the US military strike on three Iranian nuclear facilities as a "spectacular military success" during a speech delivered Saturday evening from Cross Hall at the White House.
"Tonight I can report to the world that these strikes were a spectacular military success. Iran's major nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and utterly destroyed," Trump said in his first public statement since the strikes were launched.
He also warned that the US could strike other targets if Iran does not choose peace, supporting a diplomatic solution after his decision to strike three Iranian nuclear sites on Saturday.
"Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now choose peace. If it does not, the future attacks will be much greater," Trump said. "This cannot continue. There will be either peace or a tragedy for Iran, far greater than what we have seen over the last eight days. Remember, there are still many other targets."
Trump warned that the US could "strike those other targets with precision and speed", adding that this could be accomplished "within minutes".
After the speech, Trump took to social media to issue a strong warning to Iran, promising overwhelming retaliation if Iran responds with force.
