A serious event happened yesterday in Montenegro, where a woman died after drowning in the Moraca River in Podgorica.
The woman had fallen into the river with her baby, but the latter luckily managed to be saved. In fact, the hero was the Albanian deputy in the Swedish Parliament, Adnan Dibrani, who pulled the baby out of the river.
The baby that was rescued is in a stable state of health, but there is always a risk of complications, since it is a child that has not even turned two months old, the attending physician from the Intensive Care Unit of the Institute for Children's Diseases told RTCG.
Deputy Dibrani then explained that he happened to be at the scene, being part of the observation mission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which followed the day of the elections in Montenegro.
He said in an interview for the newspaper "Pobjeda" that he did not believe that he would succeed.
"I was crossing the bridge and looked towards the water when I saw a woman and a child swimming in the river. Some other boys came, went down to the river and pulled the baby out of the water. While others called an ambulance. I ran towards them and saw that they were holding the baby, who had no signs of life. Since I have a small child at home, I knew what to do in such a situation. I took the baby from them and tried to do what I know, the best I could, I held the baby, and I got the water out of his lungs. When I heard his clear voice, I rushed to the emergency room and handed over the baby to him", says Dibrani.
He further added that the baby had been in the water for several minutes and was in danger of drowning. Unfortunately, the mother did not survive, even though she was brought ashore with signs of life.
"I was just hoping the baby would start breathing. And when I heard his scream, it gave me extra energy to try to save him. I will hug my children, and in my mind I hope that the baby will soon be healthy again with his parents", said Dibrani.
