Ruja Ignatova

Ruja Ignatova, known as the "crypto-search queen", allegedly filed a police report investigating her and her $4 billion fraud.

The 42-year-old Bulgarian-German is the only woman on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list for fraud with a pyramid scheme disguised as a cryptocurrency called OneCoin.

The BBC has been able to see files and documents from Europol meetings which say the fraudster knew about efforts to arrest her before she disappeared. Ignatova has been on the run since 2017 without a trace.

A former spy and trusted adviser to the "Crypto Queen", Frank Schneider provided her with police documents. Schneider denies receiving this data, which he says was given to him by Ignatova on a USB stick. He adds that the documents on that USB stick show that she got the information through her contacts in Bulgaria.

Schneider will be extradited to the US for his role in the OneCoin scam. Europol has stated that the incident continues to be investigated.
