As the United States and Ukraine signed a new agreement on economic cooperation in the field of natural resources, US Vice President JD Vance warned that the armed conflict in Ukraine is not close to ending.
In an interview with Fox News, Vance emphasized that the end of the war is in the hands of the warring parties themselves, describing the situation as a "brutal and savage conflict" that requires mutual will to stop.
His comments followed the signing of an agreement between Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, which envisages the creation of a joint fund for investments in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
Through this agreement, the US secures privileged access to contracts for the exploitation of minerals and other natural resources on Ukrainian territory – a step seen as strategic for the American economic and geopolitical presence in the region.
Although the agreement does not include direct security elements, analysts believe that it strengthens ties between the two countries and signals Washington's long-term commitment to Ukraine, beyond the military dimension.
